Really, what is better than wine and chocolate? Not much, right? Wine and chocolate pairings can be kind of tricky, but we have the perfect suggestions for you to wow your Valentine with this year.
#1 — Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate typically pairs nicely with bolder, tannic wines or ruby-style Port because the chocolate tends to be less sweet with a higher percent of cacao. A 70% cacao dark chocolate pairs well with our Cellar Select Norton or our Signature Port.
#2 — White Chocolate
Yeah, I know white chocolate technically isn’t chocolate because it doesn’t have any cocoa, just the cocoa fat, but its so versatile when pairing with wine. Try white chocolate (even better when it has fruit or nuts in it) with Vignoles, Berry Black or Jazz Berry.
#3 — Truffles
Have you ever indulged on those sweet, rich, creamy Oreo truffles? They sound fancy, but they are a snap to make, plus delicious!!! Truffles can pair with several wines but my favorites are Jazz Berry, Signature Port or Cat’s Meow.
#4 — Chocolate & Peanut Butter
I love chocolate and peanut butter!! Pairing wine with your evening Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup may sound a bit silly, but trust me it’s not. You must try Riefenstahler with your next peanut butter cup, it’s awesome, it reminds me a little of a PB&J sandwich.
#5 — Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Chocolate covered strawberries are a Valentine’s Day favorite. Try pairing these treats with Adam Puchta’s Situation Red, Impulse or Adam’s Choice.
