Why do you charge for your tastings?
In 2011, we made the decision, along with several other wineries in the Hermann Wine Trail, to charge a tasting fee. We offer more than just a sampling of our wines, we offer an experience. The experiences include a guided wine sampling with our well-trained, knowledgeable tasting associates and incorporate thoughtfully paired snacks with our award-winning wines.
Just like in other businesses, production costs are always increasing. We sample out 10 -15% of our production annually. Do you know of other businesses that give away that much of their product for free? We are dedicated to producing wines that put quality over quantity and price. We try to stay competitive on our wine prices and feel having implemented the tasting fee has helped us keep our bottle prices reasonable.
I hope this helps you understand our reason behind charging for our tasting experience.
Do you have a restaurant?
Yes! Our 1855 Cellar Bistro is where you can join us in the original APW wine cellar. Here we serve fresh, house made, culinary delights that pair beautifully with our award winning Missouri wines prepared by our culinary arts trained chefs. Our Bistro is only open select hours though so please be sure to check our facebook page for up to date hours and special events we hold in our 1855 Cellar Bistro and winery. Our Bistro is where you will enjoy the wine pairings for the Hermann Wine Trail, our seasonal Grill Your Own Steak events and Special, reservations only, wine pairing dinners and more, all in an intimate and uniquely historic atmosphere. You can also join us for our email newsletter where you will be the first to hear about all our special events.
Do you have seating available?
All of our seating is outside. We have beautifully landscaped grounds with picnic tables. Some covered seating is available in our Bistro area and heaters provide warmth on cooler days. In November of 2014 we added a large covered deck to our press house (approximately 600 square feet) to add seating for all types of weather. During the colder months we wrap it and have heaters in place to offer our customers a warm and dry place to enjoy sipping on our award winning wines while enjoying the scenic Missouri country side in comfort. This is a particularly beautiful spot to enjoy our Missouri wines while snow is softly falling, if you are lucky enough to be here during a snow fall. The deck is available for private parties , click here for more information.
Can we bring our dog?
We are a pet friendly winery, however only well-behaved dogs are allowed on the grounds and must be on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
Do I need a reservation for my Bachlorette party?
Reservations are not necessary; however you can give us a call to give us a heads up especially if your group is more than 20 people. We ask that your leave any adult “toys” in your vehicles; we are a family establishment.
What else is there to do in Hermann?
Other than the winery, where can I purchase Adam Puchta wines?
Currently our wines are only distributed in Missouri. Click here for our complete list of retailers in Missouri. If you would like your favorite store to carry our wines please have them give us a call we’d be happy to visit with them about carrying our products.
Do you sell wine by the glass or beer at the winery?
Yes, we do offer all of our wines by the glass and we do sell a variety of beer. Our house made, private recipe wine slushies are a big favorite! Please remember that no outside alcohol is allowed on the grounds and coolers will be checked upon arrival.
